Jameis Winston of the NY Giants and Kyler Murray of the Minnesota Vikings have achieved a statistical aberration this season. They have both shown an increase in passer rating for four consecutive games. Granted they started off with low ratings which aids their acheivement. Nevertheless that is an unheard of feat in the Super Bowl era.
Using Google AI to crunch the numbers for the all time best quarterback seasons, the closest frontrunner was Tom Brady in the 2007 16-0 season. That year Brady increased his passer rating for three consecutive games twice. In weeks 5-7 he went from 105.7 to 129.6 to 158.3 against Cleveland, Dallas and Miami. Then in weeks 15 thru 17 his rating went from 51.5 to 79.7 to 116.8 against the Jets, Miami and the Giants. The AI is admits it can make errors. So I take the occurence of this phenomena with a grain of salt. However it is rare if it has ever happened at all for four weeks.
This week the Giants play the Saints. The Saints opponents for the last three weeks all had passer ratings over 100. Winston had three games as recently as 2024 of over 100 passer rating on the Browns. A rating of 97 or better would do it. So there is a good opportunity that Jameis Winston could extend his streak for a fifth week. The Vikings have a bye week. Here is a plot of the season passer rating improvers.

The post title comes from the philosophy of UCLA basketball coach John Wooden. Wooden won an unprecedented 10 NCAA national championships, including a stretch of 7 in a row. The Post image is a picture of John Wooden at a ceremony on his 96th birthday. Listening and reading interviews or videos of Jameis Winston it seems like that would be a philosohy that he would buy into.
