Jaxson Dart, Six Yards and the Men in Between.

The Giants, with Jaxson Dart, achieved a 6.0+ Net Yards/Pass Attempt (NY/A) and Adjusted Net Yards/Pass Attempt (ANY/A) in 2025. They had not done that since Eli Manning was the quarterback in 2018. They were one of sixteen teams that achieved that in 2025. Eleven of those sixteen teams had a winning record. With adjusting the threshold to 5.5 for 2008 and earlier, we get 21 of the 60 Giant Super Bowl era seasons achieved this feat. That is roughly one third. If we keep the 6.0 as the threshold and only go back to 2002 when the league went to 32 teams we can get a count for each team of the seasons they hit the threshold out of the total 24 seasons. The Packers have the most with 19 seasons, the Giants have ten seasons and the least go to the Jets and Browns with three seasons.

This feat was not achieved on the Giants during the Daniel Jones era. However it is significant to note that the Colts did achieve this in 2025 with Daniel Jones. A reason for this may be that the Colts had the second ranked offensive line as per PFF. The following chart shows the Giants offensive line rankings by PFF since they started publishing the rankings.

The Daniel Jones era consistently had the lowest ranked Giant offensive line. Jones’s best year, his 2019 rookie year, was the only year that they had at least close to an average offensive line. It is interesting to note that in 2011, Eli Manning and the Giants won the Super Bowl with one of the lowest ranked offensive lines. Here is what PFF had to say about this accomplishment:

Yes, they won the Super Bowl, but they did so in spite of a line that sieved pressure throughout the year. Our lowest-ranked pass protecting line had problems all over, but nowhere as bad as at the tackle positions (especially once Will Beatty was lost for the year). It wasn’t just the tackles however, with every member of the Giants’ line earning a negative grade. This explains the drop-off in the run game and makes the season that Eli Manning had all the more remarkable.Ranking the 2011 Offensive Lines – Part 1

To compare a rookie, Daniel Jones, to eighth year Eli Manning would be unfair. Eli in 2011 had already one Super Bowl ring. It was expecting too much for Daniel Jones to come in and excel behind that line. It will be interesting to see how he does on the Colts.

The Giants ranked number nine on the offensive line in 2025. Left tackle, Andrew Thomas, has a PFF grade of 90.3 and is ranked as the 5th out of 84 tackles in the league. He was the only Giant to make the PFF Top 101 players from 2025 list. He was one of just six players at the position to earn PFF pass-blocking and run-blocking grades above 80.0. Thomas surrendered only one sack, 13 total pressures, and two hits in 802 offensive snaps played, per Pro Football Focus. He committed only three penalties.

The Giants drafted Francis Mauigoa with the 10th pick in the 2026 NFL draft. Mauigoa is described as a mauling blocker. As reported by PFF, Francis earned a 83.6 overall PFF grade in the 2025 season, 14th among 632 qualified offensive tackles. He played 826 offensive snaps on the season. His PFF pass-blocking grade of 87.0 ranked 7th among 632 qualified offensive tackles. His run-blocking grade of 79.4 ranked 23rd at the position. He allowed only 10 total pressures in pass protection. That total included 2 sacks and 3 hits allowed to opposing pass rushers. He was flagged for 7 penalties over the course of the season. Mauigoa will start as a guard. At the position of interior offensive lineman his measurements put him in the 89 percentile for height and 90th percentile for weight compared to historical combine data as per mockdraftable.com.

Mauigoa was born in the small coastal village of ‘Ili’ili, American Samoa. His Samoan culture or way of life referred to as Fa’a Sāmoa (literally “The Samoan Way”) emphasizes core values such as community, respect, and the importance of family. Many of the values held translate into the intangibles that make a great football player. They include serving others, prioritizing the collective well-being over individual ambition; respect for elders, chiefs, and authority figures; to never let down the extended family unit; knowing your role in society or the organization; and a combination of humility and a warrior spirit. Some outstanding Samoan players include Tony Polamalu, Junior Seau, Jesse Sapolu. Some current players include Penei Sewell, Tua Tagovailoa and Puka Nacua. On draft night when asked if he had a message for Jaxson Dart, Mauigoa said “I’m ready to die for you”. Later in a conference call with Giants reporters he said “As offensive linemen we should be able to put everything on the line because the quarterback is the key of the offense….”.

The New Orleans Saints website ranked Francis Mauigoa as the number one offensive lineman in the draft – New Orleans Saints. They had the Giants other first round pick – Arvell Reese – as the top ranked linebacker.

Right tackle Jermaine Eluemunor allowed pressure on just 3.3% of pass plays in 2025, which was the best rate among all right tackles in the league. The Giants line averaged 1.68 yards before contact, which was the seventh most in the league, per data from PFF.

The Giants hired Mike Bloomgren as Offensive Line Coach and Grant Newsome as Assistant Offensive Line Coach. Both come from a history of offensive line coaching at the college level. The word is that they are big on teaching the details and fundamentals of O-line play. This is going back to school and building it up the right way. The Giants line improved greatly last year to make PFF’s rank of ninth. However there is still the need for improvemet. Jaxson Dart ranked 30th out of 35 quarterbacks in sack percentage and 25th in pressure percentage.

Mike Clay of ESPN ranked the projected 2026 starting offensive lines and the Giants came in at 19th – ESPN Mike Clay’s 2026 Offensive Lines. The o-line is still a work in progress. However a solid line with minimal turnover, anchored by one of the league’s top left tackles, a top draft pick with a mauler mentality, an ascending right tackle and young detail oriented teaching line coaches bodes well for continued improvement.

We are offensive linemen, part of the O-line. Five guys working as a unit within the football team to establish the tempo and demeanor of the game. Our job description doesn’t sound fun, interesting, or flashy, nor should it. Those who know football know the game is won or lost in the trenches, along the line. We start the play and if we are good we finish it. We are the O-Line, we set the examples, we LEAD FROM THE FRONT.Grey Ruegamer (Offensive lineman for the New York Giants)
